Robert Anderson






South Carolina native Robert Anderson began violin studies at the age of eight. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he studied jazz and arranging with Bert Ligon and Violin, Ryan Kho and William Terwilliger. He also has studied at the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles with Lesa Terry, Richard Greene, Jeremy Cohen, and Aimee Kreston. Robert has performed with jazz giants Diana Krall, Dianne Reeves, Shirley Horn, Billy Childs, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Charlie Haden, Jill Scott, Mark O'Connor, Darol Anger, Regina Carter, Christian McBride, Aaron Rosand, Jerry Goldsmith, Terrence Blanchard, Ernie Watts, Elmer Bernstein, Richard Stolzman,and Randy Brecker.

Deeply involved in the string education field, Robert is a member of the Young Musician's Foundation mentor program. He teaches violin classes and gives private lessons to students in the Los Angeles Unified School District. In addition, Robert is on the faculty of the "Sweet Strings" program in South Central Los Angeles.

He also performs with his string trio, the Woods/Anderson Trio, with many orchestras, jazz ensembles, and is a sought after studio musician.
